1475, "Athleta Christi"

1475 Moldavia

The Battle of Vaslui was fought,
                               [on January 10th, 1475,
just at the time Christianity began to strive,
against the Ottomans of Mehmed II to fight,
deploying 40,000 troops at dawn, at first light.

Head of the Christian army,
                                           [was Stephen III of Moldavia,
whose country was the new Ottoman target,
[after Constantinople, Balkans and former Yugoslavia...

Plus smaller numbers were the Moldavian allied,
                                                                      [and mercenary troops.
facing an Ottomang army numbered up to 120,000,000........whoops,
that's a tongue twister, 120,000 is the correct number of the Ottoman army,
[headed by a guy really undefeated,
the governor of Rumelia, Hadım Suleiman Pasha.
[who before the battle, by Sultan Mehmed II was greeted.

Stephen inflicted a decisive defeat on the Ottomans,
[described as "the greatest ever secured by the Cross against Islam....
This victory was a relief for all Christianity, a real sweet balsam.
and he was later awarded the title "Athleta Christi" by Pope Sixtus IV,
[who referred to him as "the true defender of the Christian faith",
"verus christianae fidei athleta", a title that would be envied,
[by all Catholic Kings, even the Protestant Henry the Eighth.
