1484, Years... before America's discovery

The King of Portugal, years before America's discovery, appoints,
[a commission of mathematicians, to perfect tables,
to help seamen find their latitude on the sphere
[and that, that alone, defeats all the fables,
which are not based on facts, and attempt to convince us,
                                                        [that Columbus was sailing blindly.
while he had previously studied the knowledge of ancient Greek,
[mathematicians and astronomers and used it unconfinedly...

In the 6th century BC the Greek mathematician Pythagoras said the Earth is round,
                                                                             [but the establishment intussuscepted.

The Greek astronomer Aristarchus said in the 3rd century BC,
[that the Earth is rotating around the sun - but the idea was not accepted.

In the 2nd century BC the Greek astronomer Eratosthenes,
[accurately measured the Earth's perimeter at about 40,000 kilometers

It is obvious that Christopher knew a lot, and most importantly,
[by observing the polar star, even without any geometers,
and steadily going west would surely reach the point where left,

By that I mean that even if he did not meet land,
[he would still be admired and of glory he would
bereft.

Now everyone can understand why Columbus,
                                               [before the perilous trip,
with his historical caravel,
                                        [a medium-sized sailing ship,
studied the Eratosthenes and Hipparchus,
                                                  [the Greek astronomers ie stargazers.

Someone with much imagination could say,
[that that the astronomer's  thought resembles that of the tracers....
